Last chance: ‘Shooting Žižek’ creative brief

Some extra inspiration as the closing date for our filmmaking comp draws close.

Last chance: ‘Shooting Žižek’ creative brief

It’s been a crazy couple of months, but our ‘Shooting Žižek’ creative brief – in which we asked filmmakers to respond to Slavoj Žižek’s theory of the ‘end times’ – is heading for an explosive finish.

The gauntlet was thrown down in May, during the paperback release of Žižek’s apocalyptic book Living In The End Times, and was picked up by people all over the world – from Italy and Tokyo to Slovenia and Rio de Janeiro – who entered their minute-long masterpieces in the plenty.

But, it’s not over yet. With an extended deadline of July 30, there’s still time to shoot, edit and render a philosophical short for our topical brief. Simply check out the Žižek brief guidelines and send us your entry via a video-hosting website like YouTube or Vimeo by the end of the month.

To inspire you on your filmmaking jaunt, here are some of the amazing entries we’ve already received.

Gabriel Tupinambá

Temujin Doran

And for an extra ounce of ideological inspiration, check out Žižek in conversation with Wikileaks editor-in-chief Julian Assange, at a Frontline Club event chaired by Democracy Now‘s Amy Goodman earlier this month.

I e-mailed a video link from youtube but I never got any conformation, did the title of the video have to be called living in end times?

I also submitted on time. No confirmation yet, and apparently no updates on how the contest is going, or when the results will be announced. Starting to worry.

  3. My Persson says:

What happened to this contest? When will the winners be announced?
