Staring Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf and Jason Clarke as the notorious Bondurant brothers – who ran a mini moonshine empire in Prohibition-era Franklin, Virginia – alongside Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska and Hillcoat regular Guy Pearce, Lawless recreates the bold flavour of old America as vividly brought to life in Matt Bondurant’s semi-biographical source novel, The Wettest County in the World.

In keeping with the film’s authentic tone and aesthetic, the cover, section headers, feature titles and illustrations have all been hand-carved from Japanese plywood by Creative Director Paul Willoughby and the LWLies design team.

Inside John Hillcoat provides an exclusive director’s commentary; we go nose-to-nose with Tom Hardy; four DPs reveal how their visions of vintage America made it to the big screen; and screenwriter and composer extraordinaire Nick Cave gives us the inside track on the toe-tappin’ Lawless soundtrack.

Elsewhere the new-look reviews section is full to bursting with July/August theatrical goodness, and there’s interviews with directors James Marsh, Andrew Kötting and Marc Webb.
