LWL70

From June 17 to July 2 LWLies hosted a free exhibition of specially commissioned print illustrations at Kemistry Gallery in East London.

Launched to coincide with the release of LWLies issue 35, which saw Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now adorn the cover, TCOLondon Creative Director Paul Willoughby curated LWL70 with the view to celebrating one of cinema’s most aesthetically fruitful eras, asking iconic graphic designers and illustrators of today to reinterpret and restyle iconic films and faces of the past.

Everything from Star Wars and Alien to Chinatown and A Clockwork Orange were given the LWLies treatment, with artists such as Jesse Auersalo, Autumn Whitehurst and Joe Wilson putting their creative spin on a ’70s films of their choice.
